GFolio 2.3

The next major update, GFolio 2.3, was just accepted and is available for download on the iOS App Store.

In addition to minor bug-fixes, GFolio 2.3 introduces local caching. Local caching means faster loading times, and you will be able to view your portfolios and positions even when there’s no Internet connection.

Another minor feature in version 2.3 is in-app e-mail support – if you are having problems, or you just have a suggestion, you can e-mail me directly from GFolio.

Don’t forget to rate GFolio in the App Store if you like it! Thank you for your continued support!

Additionally! GFolio Free is coming soon – GFolio Free will be updated alongside the full GFolio from now on. Major differences: the free version, in order to support development, will contain advertisements. Additionally, it is limited to the first profile of your Google Finance account, and news is not available.

GFolio 2.1

The newest exciting update to GFolio, the iPhone Google Finance client, is now available for download on the App Store!

A complete list of new features in 2.1:

  • Tap the “QuickView” description to change it, without having to go into the Settings page.
  • More data from Yahoo! Finance is available (enable/disable the data you need in the Settings page)
  • News feeds – related to individual positions and also general market news.
  • GFolio now handles closed positions (positions with a share count of zero) much more cleanly.

The native iPad app for GFolio is taking much longer than expected, and is still under heavy development. Thank you for your continued patience.

GFolio 1.1 & 1.2

Sorry for the late update, GFolio 1.1 has been in the App Store for awhile now. Changes are as follows:

  • Information about individual quotes
  • Overall portfolio statistics

The information about the individual quotes are provided by Yahoo! Finance, not Google Finance. As such, they are not real-time as the Google quotes are, and have a delay of at least 15 minutes.

I’ve been spending my time working on the next version of GFolio, and the new features you can expect are:

  • Viewing individual transactions
  • Currency exchange information (this information will most likely come from Yahoo! as well.)
  • Market-related news

I expect to finish GFolio 1.2 in a week or two, and the App Store review process takes about a week or two. Don’t forget to leave reviews on the App Store! Any feature requests and/or bug reports are welcome!

GFolio in the app store!

Today, the first version of GFolio was accepted to the iPhone / iPod Touch app store. GFolio is a handy tool to check out your Google Finance profile quickly and easily.

Features to expect in the next version:

  • statistics on individual quotes, including the bid/ask prices, 52-week values, and much more.
  • transaction history data

Note: the statistics on individual stock quotes will be retrieved from the Yahoo! Finance due to licensing restrictions. This means that data will be delayed by at least 15 minutes.

GFolio

I’ve been working on a small iPhone app that uses the Google Data APIs to connect to your Google Finance portfolio, so you can get a quick easy outlook on your portfolio wherever you go. I just submitted the first version to the App Store, it should be in the store in the next couple weeks.

Features in the 1.0 version:

  • Shows the stock symbol, along with the overall gain in both dollars and as a percentage, as well as the day’s gain in dollars.
  • Shows current market value and the cost basis
  • Automatically updates every ten seconds (can be disabled)

I plan to add many more features – I would expect the ability to create/modify/delete portfolios and transactions in a version in the near future.
